In my imagination, you’re standing right next to me Your face open like a flower, you’re talking so naturally But I can’t hear those words that you say I know it’s got to be this way, or so they say. At the back of my recollection, here in my wildest dreams Was that time I knew so well, the girl in the magazine The one you brought me home that day It’s got to be this way, Got to be this way, or so they say. Don’t know if I can live without you Just seeing if I’m still dreaming, the way it has to be If seeing can be believing, I believe so totally Try and keep all your thoughts on, that what you want to be And I know that I’ll hear those words that you say It’s got to be this way, got to be this way, got to be this way.

High Time 03:38
It feels like I've been waiting for such a long time for you I can see my life flash before me, but what else can I do? So if you hear my throat clearing, if you hear my song. I'm hoping that it's good enough, So you'll want to come and sing along. Sometimes it seems I'm invisible, I feel just like a ghost. I'm the man who haunts your house, And the places you visit the most. But if you fell my heart beating, or feel my pulse, You'll know that I am driven by desire, I'm the one who wants you the most. And it's high time, you gave your love to me. Yes it's the right time, if only you could see. So it's high time, yes it's the right time. I don't see the problem, I'm scared it's never meant to be. Why can't I accept the fact that you don't want to play. Maybe I should give it up, and then just walk away. But when I see you smiling at some thing that I've said. When I hear you talk to me, I can't believe it's dead. And it's high time, you gave your love to me. Yes it's the right time, if only you could see. So it's high time, yes it's the right time. I don't see the problem, I'm scared it's never meant to be. So it's high time.

My fingers hold no plectrum, See them stretch out, see them beckon Communication, without speaking, Leaves me breathless, feel me freaking Out on you, as I feel you next to me. And I want you, if only you could see. Your eyelids still flutter, Like a dance with no structure Separation, without meeting, Churns my feelings, however fleeting I see it all in a different light tonight And I believe in love, thought I'd never get it right. My innocence incenses me, I'm losing all my mind Your deference references me, But only when I find. I'm falling down on you, Falling down on you It's getting late now, I should hurry, But then you tell me, no need to worry If I can't see you, how can I reach you, Trusting my instincts, that's what you would do When you're not here, the lights go dim, you hold the key And I want you, if only you could see.

I can sympathise with everything you say Despite my attitude when I saw you yesterday And do you like it when I hold you at night? We can play our dreams in the darkness. So take your chance As you take my hand. I will never believe That you don't understand. Is it so difficult, well what more can I say? It's this indifference, it holds you in its sway. So when you hear me calling out for you, Please let me know how I can reach you. So take your chance As you take my hand. I will never believe That you don't understand.
5.
If we get through tonight, if we get through, If I can't find you tonight, I may not know what to do. Like a star, you're hanging there in the sky Across a million miles, you're shining down from on high But there are times, when I get mad, I think you know, then I feel bad It seems so selfish to let things show But if I didn't how would you know? My love is true tonight, my love's for you And I hope you'll see this in all the things I do. Can we be free tonight, can we break through? So take some time, to discover the way, Your senses can grow, each and every day. Or align your touch, to the signs that you see – the way's in your mind. To find out where we've gone wrong, we have to be so very strong And not turn away when things get tough, Or we'll never ever live long enough And you'll awake, one day reborn You'll rise up, all on your own. Just feel a sense, of where your life could be In these distorted times… who knew? I feel complete tonight, hope you do too. So let's get through this night

Pull back the curtains darling, let the sunshine in Put away your winter clothes, let the spring begin. And if you didn't know, the morning light will see you right And dreams you may have had, will fill your eyes in front of me. Bask in the glow, a warm breeze that will set you free How soon you will know, you can be what you want to be. Knee-deep in bluebells baby as we walk through the wood See how they quiver in the wind, like a stormy sea And let your eyes of brown show me your passion deep And our love will endure, together this hill is never steep. Come rest in my arms, focus now on this point in time Think only of love, and feel the yearning in this heart of mine. Your eyes are my sun, yours tears are my rain, Your open arms guide me home again. Your hair form my trees, your breath is my wind, Your smile, is my victory Your eyes are my sun, your tears are my rain Your open arms guide me home again. Your lips are my friend, your cheeks a pillow Your smile, it seems, makes me complete

Don't Let Go 04:17
I thought that our love was so special, Something I'd really waited for. But recently I fear the future, It seems our love may be no more. Is this the start of some sad ending, I've seen the yearning in your eyes Now I'm beginning to get worried, I've seen you look at other guys But please don't let go, keep holding on, I don't want to know, our love has gone Don't let the joy turn to tears, After so many good years We've been together such a long time, And we were happy all the while But now I think there's something missing, Whatever happened to your smile You know I'll love you wherever you are I hope we're together, forever in time So please don't let go, keep holding on. I want you to see, our love is strong Don't let our love fall apart, let's try to make a new start.

There you go running around in your dreams again And if I knew what's in your mind I'd probably run If you don't know the truth then I will tell you But it's too late to know what I should do. And what about all those little tricks you play From breakfast time and on and on right through the day Just like a fool I'm lost under your spell You've let me in but now I don't feel so well Time, time, time, You're telling me it's gonna be some Time, time, time, 'Til I get what I really want There you go storming around your room again And I can hear the sound of your car out in the lane Don't know what I can do to hold you Got a feeling it's too late to know what I should do

Way Out West 04:22
Drove my car way out west, far beyond my normal points of view Couldn't turn the car around - I thought a lot about you. Found the motorway so easily tonight The midnight traffic has never been so light A coffee stop at 3am from a roadside trailer van The driving rain still going strong, as I hit the road again Big blue signs are flashing by as I ride along But I don't need directions now, I know which road, I know which road I'm on, And I'm driving through the night, To chase my dreams until the morning light Driving through the night, for you It's hard to comprehend you're not here by my side Maybe one day I'll understand the reason for it all Ran out of fuel at 6am, in a lonely leafy lane I left the car and wandered on, clear sky's replaced the rain The last few miles are laid out here ahead And now the sun is rising in a sky of, a sky of burning red. I'm driving through the night, To chase my dreams until the morning light Driving through the night, for you It's hard to comprehend you're not here by my side I lift the lid, I tilt the box, and let the contents flow free And we'll go driving through the night, And chase our dreams in the morning light Driving through the night, for you. Yeah we're driving through the night, To your favourite place in the morning light Driving through the night, for you It's hard to comprehend you're not here by my side Maybe one day I'll understand the reason for it all Drove my car way out west, I couldn't turn around.

I made my way upstairs, I didn't know what I'd find All kinds of crazy dreams were spinning through my mind Meeting you, in that club, that night Hoping it would, turn out just right. We'd never met before, that didn't seem to worry you Not sure I felt the same, I didn't know what to do So I lost control of my thoughts and my words I opened my mouth, it all came out so absurd. You know it's true, that I miss you, still you never come around I'm feeling blue, that much is true, still you never come around It's not like before, it's not like before. Lying there in the afterglow, I thought it must be love Poor judgement on my part, as a push turned to a shove Right out that door, and back into the night No way back in, and you turned off all the lights.

Tell Me Now 04:29
If you’re looking for shelter, somewhere it can’t be found, You may have reached a place, that no-one else is thinking of. If you need to drop your bags, lighten up your load. You can do it right here, right now, come in out of the road So tell me now, if there's anything I can do for you, at this point in time So tell me now what you need from me, To make your day, make you feel OK, and to hear you say, I do If you're looking for an ally, someone to call your own, Have you tried my open arms? It could be just what you need. Sunrise opens out in your eyes, leaves a yearning feeling in my mind Something I've known for years, it's hard to capture your dreams. Your life has been so hard, but now you're here with me, Now you have the freedom, to be just who you want to be.
12.
I found my way, back into your arms Where the sun shone down, on the beach beneath the palms I felt your hair, as it brushed against my face. Touched your skin, but did I leave a trace? My mind's confused, can you help me please? Am I here or there, on the grass or in the trees? (like a ball that'll never be found) You unhooked me from my dreams the other night But now you're back, and you're holding me so tight. Chorus Have I really nothing to fear, as I imagine the scene? The sun in my eyes, your words in my ears, And it feels just like a dream.

about

This album was recorded over a period of 2 years finishing in November 2019. It's primarily a collection of newer songs written and recorded since my previous album Life Line.

One exception to that is Time, Time, Time which was actually written in the 1990s when I was in a band called Albedo, but I'd never recorded it. It was always a great song to play live, and one of my favourites.

Also the track Your Eyes Are My Sun was written around the time of the Life Line album, but just wasn't really finished then.

The album was mostly recorded at Miacon Studios in Horsell, near Woking, UK. But some bits were actually recorded at home and then hooked together in the studio. Neal Leggett at Miacon was really helpful with the setup of all the studio sessions, and helping me get the best sound.

The album is mostly me - guitar, voice, bass, etc. But I'd also like to thank the following people who also appear on it.

Karen Terry - Backing Vocals
Tracy Ginn - Backing Vocals
Francis Greene - Keyboards and Backing Vocals
Joanna Lawrence - Violin and Viola

I'm very pleased with how it's come out. I hope you like it.
